![]() ![]() Looking at your new switch you'll see the two openings for the clips near the part the tumbler turns.ġ1. Using a small screwdriver release the triangle clips on the only part still attached to the switch assembly. Remove the smaller screw holding the switch to the assembly.ġ0. Remove the wire harness from the existing switch to give yourself more wiggle room.ĩ. Twist and turn until you can get the switch assembly to hang down out of the bottom of the dash.Ĩ. The tumbler and ignition switch will be loose under the dash.ħ. You will see a third screw on top of the tumbler once you remove the trim in step 5, remove that screw. Just an FYI you'll be doing this on your knees in the driveway twisted up under the dash.Ħ. Give them a gentle push while pulling out on the trim and it should pop out from the bottom. This trim goes around your gauges and up on top of the dash (at least on a grand cherokee) When you're looking p under the dash you will see the tabs close to the steering column. Looking under the dash you'll see two tabs holding the cluster trim in. Remove the 2 screws that are behing the trim ring.ĥ. Remove the trim ring around the ignition tumbler where the key goes in.Ĥ. Pull down on it under the steering column and it will wing down on some hinges that then just slide off.ģ. ![]() Remove the panel under the steering wheel that your knees would hit, basically the whole bottom dash pops off. Note: All of the trim pieces just pop out with a little force, no screws.Ģ. I did it in about 20 min with out instructions. I just did mine in my 05 Grand Cherokee so Im guessing the Commander is pretty close. I know this is a couple months old so not sure if you got to it yet. ![]()
